PPA’s Statement on City Controller’s Audit Announcement
“While we have implemented almost all of the Auditor General’s recommendations and have recently gone through a comprehensive internal financial and operational examination by the independent International Parking Institute, that resulted in our receiving an accreditation ‘with distinction’, we look forward to working with the City Controller to continue making the PPA more efficient and customer-friendly. The PPA is committed to providing the best customer service possible by employing best industry practices and the latest technological advances.” — PPA Executive Director, Scott Petri.
The PPA won accreditation through the IPI’s Accredited Parking Organization (APO) program, a certification for parking organizations that have achieved a comprehensive standard of excellence. APO recognizes best practices in responsible parking management and operations, customer service, professional development, sustainability, safety, and security.
In order to receive the IPI’s accreditation, “An organization must demonstrate its commitment to ongoing evaluation and improvement of program outcomes through the implementation of industry best practices. Applicant organizations work with third-party reviewers to organize and present evidence of accomplishment of 250 criteria in 14 categories related to industry best practices. To achieve the APO with Distinction, an additional set of criteria must be met.”
