A Warning for All Taxis, Limos & TNCs Operating in Philadelphia

 

As a regulated business, I wanted to remind you that you may not refuse to provide transportation service to any person for a discriminatory purpose. Our regulation at 52 Pa. Code § 1011.10 specifically provides as follows:

“A regulated person may not refuse service to a member of the public on the basis of gender, sexual orientation, race, religious preference, nationality, age, point of origin, point of destination or to a person with a disability.”

The Philadelphia Parking Authority will continue to respond to questions or complaints from the public about poor service, particularly discriminatory behavior, and prosecute founded complaints to the fullest extent of the law. Penalties can include a fine of up to $1,000 and the loss of certification to provide service.
