If the registered owner is unable to appear. There are legalities that govern the proceedings which take place to discuss the release of an owner’s vehicle.

The circumstances surrounding when someone other than the registered owner may be afforded an expedited hearing are very limited. Such circumstances are limited to:
  • The registered owner is deceased. (A legal limited power of attorney and new vehicle registration may be accepted)
  • The registered owner is abroad. (Valid proof of the owner’s whereabouts and legal authorization from the owner for representation on their behalf)
Should you believe you have an extenuating circumstance that may equate to those listed above, upon presentation, the Bureau will need to determine your eligibility for an expedited hearing.
