Alfred W. Taubenberger has served as a member of the Philadelphia Parking Authority Board since 2001. Mr. Taubenberger served as an at-large member of the Philadelphia City Council from 2016 to 2020 and was President of the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce from 1991-2015. The child of German parents who immigrated from Germany in the 1930s, Mr. Taubenberger was raised in Northeast Philadelphia in the Burholme neighborhood. He currently resides in the Fox Chase neighborhood of Philadelphia with his wife, Joanne Brenner Taubenberger, and has four children and five grandchildren. Mr. Taubenberger is also cousin to world-renowned virologist Jeffery Taubenberger of Washington, D.C., who is Chief of the Viral Pathogenesis and Evolution Section, Laboratory of Infectious Diseases, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and National Institutes of Health.
