Meter Rates, Parking Fines, Tow & Boot Fees Increase

New meter parking rates have gone into effect in Center City and University City. Parking at a meter will now cost $2.00 an hour in the area bounded by the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers, and Spring Garden and Bainbridge Streets. Parking in University City will cost $1.50 an hour for the area bounded by the Schuylkill River, University and Woodland Avenues, 40th Street, Filbert Street to 34th, 34th to Arch, and Arch to the Schuylkill River.

Along with the rate increase, our meters will no longer accept nickels or dimes. Use quarters, dollar coins, or the PPA Smart Card.

Parking fines for many safety violations rise to $51.00 citywide, and will be higher ($76.00) in the Center City and University City areas.

Booting, towing, and some storage fees have changed for vehicles impounded for both regular and Live Stop violations.

$3.00 an Hour Parking at the Gallery.

PPA has reduced its rates to $3.00 an hour for the first three hours at the AutoPark at the Gallery, 10th & Filbert Streets, connected by walkway to the Gallery Mall. This is a pilot program designed to relieve the congestion caused when drivers circulate repeatedly in the area, looking for an on-street space. (Metered parking, currently $2.00 an hour, will increase to $3.00 an hour in July.)
